We know, you gave all your dollars to the rosé gods this summer. Us too. What we were we supposed to do?! No one told us Stranger Things was gonna be so good! No one told us Beyoncé was going to Beyoncé all over us at the VMAs.

And no one ever could have told us just how crazy this presidential election would get. We have needed to self medicate, and this summer rosé was just what the doctor ordered.

But now our wallets are a little lighter than we’d like them to be.

Of course, that just doesn’t work for anyone because as we all know, fall is the greatest season there is.

So here are the best free/cheap things going down this October in NYC! It’s gonna be a graveyard smash y’all!

Oktoberfest New York (October 1st & 2nd)

Held at Watermark (Pier 15), Oktoberfest New York aims to capture the spirit of a traditional Oktoberfest in Munich! Live music, German food and beer, face painting, games, and a view of the Brooklyn skyline…not too shabby folks!

Oh, and admission for this event is FREE! Now grab a stein and strap on that pair of lederhosen I KNOW you’ve got laying around.

Pier 15 is located at 78 South Street, New York, New York.

Summer is over and it sucks. Outdoor concerts, park picnics, rooftop barbecues? Done. What are we going to look forward to now? How are we going to survive the work week without exciting weekend plans?

I know – Oktoberfest. “Where?” you ask. We have got you covered. Check out our picks for where to celebrate Oktoberfest in and around NYC.

Prost!

WATERMARK BAR

Oktoberfest’s been raging in Munich since September 17th and will continue to do so through October 3rd. Here in NYC, we’ve got a few stein-raising moments of our own throughout September, October and even into November. Here, a few options to do your wurst on some German fare and drink.

Oktoberfest at Watermark Bar on Pier 15 This East River adjacent outdoor bar is going full party mode for their weekend Oktobefestivities. Stein holding competitions, cornhole, pongs of both the ping and beer variety are among the activities to keep drinkers entertained. There’s also the option for unlimited beer tastings ($60) during two sessions on Saturdays and Sundays. Through October 2nd. 78 South Street, (212) 742-8200; watermarkny.com

Oktoberfest kicked off this past weekend. Here’s where you’ll want to celebrate:

This year, Pier 15 is being transformed into the ultimate Oktoberfest destination thanks to Watermark Bar. The traditional keg tapping will take place every weekend throughout the festival and welcome a guest tapper each time. Two-hour unlimited tasting packages are available, and there will also be traditional Oktoberfest décor, food, beer, live music, stein holding contests and games. This one is also family friendly.

From coast to coast, we’ve scouted out the most beer-, food-, and fun-filled Oktoberfest events you need on your radar
Oktoberfest is in full swing across the country. If you don’t plan on flying out to Munich, don’t worry. Find out where the best places are to enjoy the German festivities, food, and beer right in your city. Whether you’re in it for the brats, libations, dancing, or just the ultimate overall Oktoberfest experience, there’s an event waiting for you.
Watermark’s OktoberFest New York
Watermark’s annual Oktoberfest extravaganza on Pier 15 is bringing Munich to New York for the next two weekends — Sept. 24 and 25, and Oct. 1 and 2 — so get ready. Aside from authentic German beer (think 1-liter steins filled to the brim with Hofbrau, Weihenstephan or Radeberger beer), guests can expect live music, full Oktoberfest decorations, fun games for the entire family, and, of course, German fare. Celebrate and learn about Oktoberfest all while taking in the best views New York has to offer, which include Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges and the Brooklyn skyline. For more info, click here.

You would think everyone in NYC was German when it comes to Oktoberfest festivities in this town. NYC bars and restaurants start promoting Oktoberfest events by the middle of Sept. and, if you are one who enjoys our city versions of the Munich autumn festival, you will have more than your share to choose from.

One that I recommend: Merchants Hospitality Oktoberfest at Watermark Bar on Pier 15. With or without beer, the 10,000-square foot space, with a panorama of the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges and the Brooklyn skyline, is impressive. From Sept. 17-Oct. 2, Merchants Hospitality will be taking it over, offering menu items for $8 and for $16, 1-liter steins of beer. For $60, you can get two-hour unlimited beer tastings (including food), Sa and Su from 3-5 pm and from 8-10 pm.

Communal picnic tables provide the party atmosphere to enjoy bratwurst, hot dogs, pretzels and more, and enjoy the games that go best with beer—giant beer pong, Ping-Pong, cornhole and stein holding competitions. If you have children in tow, they will be entertained with bubbles and face painting activities.

Oktoberfest is free, and will be held every Sa and Su from noon-12 am, Sept. 17-Oct. 2. All tickets are available at the door or at www.eventbrite.com/receive/hMKo7.

Lift your steins and give thanks — Oktoberfest is almost upon us.

The Munich folk festival traditionally runs for 16 to 18 days, but here in New York City you can find events throughout September and October.

Whether you’re looking for family fun or a serious party, here’s how your Oktoberfest calendar is shaping up:

Oktoberfest New York
Where: Watermark (Pier 15), 78 South St., Financial District
When: 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.

This Oktoberfest party promises to bring Munich to New York. Revelers can enjoy their steins of beer with live music, traditional food and family fun. The event is free but you can reserve tickets.

So you probably don’t have the funds to fly to Munich, but that’s OK! There are still plenty of ways to commemorate the annual German beer bonanza known as Oktoberfest right here in New York (with many events running for a full six weeks… so, prepare your liver). Strap on your lederhosen, prepare for brats, and start drinking. Oktoberfest actually begins in September, in case you didn’t know.

SATURDAY September 17

There are a lot of reasons to love fall. Cozy sweaters. Walks in the park as the leaves turn colors. Pumpkin spice lattes. Or, if you’re the kind of contrarian who opposes pumpkin spice lattes—on principle, I guess?—then there’s pumpkin-flavored beer. And if you also hate pumpkin-flavored beer—on that I’m assuming your reasons are taste-related—then you’ll be happy to know that you can get steins of the more traditional flavors of beer at OktoberFest. The yearly festival kicks off today with brats, pretzels and, of course, beer. German favorites like Hofbrau as well as Weihenstephan and Radeberger will be served, all for $8. While you drink, you’ll be able to enjoy live music and some fantastic traditional costumes and games that promise “fun for your entire family.” (You should probably make the kids stick with a pumpkin spice latte, though. Or milk? I don’t know, whatever children are drinking these days.) Watermark (Pier 15), 78 South Street, noon to midnight, free
